The Oak offers a delightful selection of well-prepared dishes, including their impressive surf and turf, loved by many. The ribeye steak special consistently garners praise for its perfect cooking and flavorful texture. Diners appreciate the thoughtful kids' menu designed for younger guests, ensuring everyone finds something delicious. With a spacious outdoor seating area and a vibrant atmosphere enhanced by live music, it’s a popular venue for weeknight gatherings and weekend fun. Frequent compliments highlight the friendly staff and the well-stocked bar, making each visit enjoyable.

Most Disliked

Some visitors note that The Oak can get quite busy during peak times, especially on Sundays around 4 PM. The bustling atmosphere may lead to longer wait times for food and drinks. A few diners also mention that the layout can feel cramped during busy periods, taking away from the overall dining experience. Additionally, while most meals receive high praise, individual tastes vary, and not every dish hits the mark for every diner. This can create mixed feelings about menu consistency when the kitchen is particularly busy.

Me and my daughter have just got back from the oak, the food was excellent. Paul the chef recommended the surf and turf it was cooked to perfection. My daughter had the kids burger which could’ve easily been passed off as an adults meal she said it was 10/10. This is a lot more than the usual pub food I was expecting and il be returning soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Having lived in Walmley for most of my life and been a regular at The Oak for many years, I was initially disappointed when it transitioned into a gastro pub and chose to stop visiting. However, with the recent change in management and a refreshed kitchen, we decided to give it another try—and I’m very glad we did. We ordered a few drinks, the prawn starter, beer-battered tikka starter, the ribeye steak special, and a sirloin steak. Everything was cooked exactly to our preferences, and the texture and flavor of the food were outstanding. I can confidently say I prefer this steak over what I’ve had at Miller & Carter. Service was prompt, the staff were friendly and professional, and it’s great to see that dogs are still welcome. A solid 10/10—keep up the excellent work. We’ll definitely be back!

Well worth a visit. Friendly and welcoming staff, with lots of recent improvements to the pub including adding live music and events. New food menu is excellent with lots of choice, great quality and reasonably priced. Drinks are always very good with clean glasses and cold pints!

Went for lunch and had the short beef rib. It was absolutely delicious. I was really impressed. The quality of the food reflects the fact there is an independent chef in there now. Glad we chose to eat there. Definitely recommend! 10/10.

Went there with family and friends for new taster menu. The food was absolutely amazing, the oak burger is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Good quality options throughout the taster menu, can’t wait to go again when the full menu is available. Caters well for all ages and dietary requirements as well. Staff were very helpful and accommodating.
